Centara resort Karon Beach, Holidaying inThailand?

Hi ! i am going to thailand in july and staying 11 nights in phuket (Centara Resort Karon Beach) and 2 nights in bangkok (Indra regent Hotel) it is my first time traveling out of australia and i am very nervous, i am 18 and am going with my boyfriend, does anyone have any advice or stayed at these places before? Or have any good tips on things to and not to do ?? Thanks heaps :)

    Centra Resort Karon Beach is fairly far from everything it maybe a bit hard to find and is located about 20 mins from Patong. The best thing to do would be renting a motor bike to get around, because there are really no Tuk Tukd, taxis and public transportation that pass by, but beware drivers in Phuket are probably one of the worst in the world.

    Indra Regent is an excellent location, right in the heart of Bangkok’s shopping district and within walking distance to Central World and Siam Paragon, the only downside is that it is fairly old.
