I’m staying in Karon Beach Pineapple Phuket Hotel. The Hotel replied tonite saying they could pick me up from airport for 600 baht. I think even if I take a taxi it will cost 600 baht am I correct? Is 600 baht a standard fare? Should I tell them I would like a taxi to pick me up from airport?
Robinson, your comments are curious because I read in one of my other questions about taxi fares in Phuket that there aren’t any taxis but only tuk tuk’s in Phuket. Personally I find that hard to believe and I’m inclined to think there are indeed taxis. Guess I’ll find out.

From my own research I’ve surmised that it is quite expensive to take taxi (or tuk tuk or otherwise) from Karon Beach to Patong Beach, perhaps as much as $10 US or am I off? Is there any cheap way to get from Karon Beach to Patong Beach and vice versa?
Regarding Hungrymon’s comment I’m not worried about people staring at me. I’m Chinese so I think I might fit in better than you so I might give those buses a try.

Going to Phuket in early Jan. Might stay at PineapplePhuket in Karon Beach. I’m worried that the taxi will charge me $10 US to get to Patong Beach where all the fun is. Should I stay in Patong Beach instead?
