I can't comment on the Turkes, but I can say the Bahamas are awesome. We went there for our honeymoon in 2006 (ages 30 and 27). We stayed and Sandals and wouldn't have done anything differently. I've posted a couple hundred pictures and a review from our trip. Let me know if you have any questions. http://www.traveltheories.com

As you are (I think) from North America, I would suggest that you would find the TCI less "American", with the resort staffed mainly by non-belongers and less American vernacular in use. You are right about the Bahamas being more romantic and elegant, but when I was there it struck me as being very much a satellite of the United States, despite its UK connections. It has far more fashion shops than the TCI and people there love dressing up -- far more so than in the TCI. I also loved the old colonial buildings in Grand Bahama -- we have nothing like that in the TCI. However, it is a joy to walk along Grace Bay Beach, which has been voted best in the world several years running and which is never crowded and on which your resort is situated.

My answer doesn't help you much. Get out that hat!
